a person-centred and holistic approach to therapy
We grow, learn, and heal with those in our circle as they help, teach, and love us
Meet Ryan Maisey
I'm an unapologetically Queer Indigenous person and I sit and yap with people for a living. I am loud, honest, sometimes funny, and authentically me.
I know that some days will feel hard or difficult, but like Piglet said to Pooh, “Difficult Days are much easier when you know you've got someone there for you.”

Lateral Love Psychology is grounded in the collective nature of healing and wellness. We are all connected to those around us, the animals we share space with, and the land we walk.
We support teens and adults (18+) and are available for Individual and Couples / Relationship Counselling. We provide short and long-term therapeutic support. The counselling space depends on you as we offer in-person and virtual therapy.
Sessions are generally 50 minutes; however, this may be adjusted to fit the needs of the client. We offer free 45-minute intake consultations to see if we are a good fit.

Assessments
Despite their limitations, assessments can be a beautiful tool in your therapeutic and wellness process. I want to acknowledge where you’re at in life and get curious with all of the heart that makes you, you. Within assessment, I try to find the best and most appropriate treatment recommendations to help guide you in your process in therapy, in school, at work, and more!
I want to connect with you to provide the most clinically supported, inclusive, relevant, thorough, and meaningful assessment results and recommendations to support you.

Land acknowledgement
I acknowledge that we are gathered today at the traditional meeting place and home for many Indigenous people, including the Cree, Anishinaabe, Blackfoot, Nakoda Sioux, Tsuu'tina, Dene, Inuit and Metis peoples, as identified in Treaty 6, Treaty 7 and Métis Nation Battle River Territory, Nose Hill Métis District 5 and Elbow Métis District 6. I live and work in Moh’kinstsis, the Blackfoot name for Calgary.
I acknowledge and appreciate the many generations who have cared for these lands. I respect their traditions and cultures on these lands. The many traditions and cultures are deeply embedded into the landscape and roots in which we all inhabit. I extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation to work and live in this territory.
